Step 1 – Damaged Insulation – Removal and Reinstallation

Our licensed technicians have years of experience in performing rodent control and remediation services. In attics most insulation is the rolled or blown-in types. Attic areas are generally tight, small confined areas to work in. Rodents, especially roof rats, like to live in attics where they have insulation. The insulation is great nesting materials for them, and they can burrow into it making them feel safe in the environment. The major problem here is that the rodents leave a large amount of feces and urine on the insulation and their activity & body weight compresses the insulation decreasing the effective R value. This is turn reduces the ability to keep your home warm.

Sub-areas or crawlspaces beneath homes are another area that rodents like to infest. The insulation is tucked between floor joists just under the floor. Rodents create runways and nests up inside the gap between the insulation and your floor. When that happens the insulation becomes contaminated and matted, so in addition to the filth, the insulation can no longer hold in heat (its “R factor”).

Our technicians will remove this damaged insulation, we often use an industrial vacuum unit to remove rodent debri, loose insulation and roofing debri from the attic and sub-areas. If we’re working on your crawlspace this usually includes removing the vapor barrier as well, as rodents will tear it in order to build a nest underneath.

Step 2 – Disinfect & Deodorize

After the contaminated insulation is removed, Adios Pest Control then treats the areas with a organic disinfectant and sanitizes the areas.

Disinfect/Sanitize:

Rodents carry diseases and they leave filth that can create a biohazard. As part of either attic or substructure crawlspace clean-up, Adios Pest Control applies a disinfectant to surfaces. This disinfectant can’t be removed, and greatly aids in the decontamination process. It is applied as a fog that drifts into hard-to-reach areas or, when needed, as a heavier spray that penetrates deeper into the surface build-up.

Deodorize:

The odor from rat or mouse urine, feces, and dead rodent carcasses can be intolerable. The disgusting odor is always found where they’ve lived and sometimes it reaches into the living space of your home. When a rodent carcass is still decomposing, the odor will penetrate walls and make your home unbearable to dwell in. Our deodorizer will help you in your home against the pheromones, .hat attract other rats and mice.

Step 3 – Insulation Reinstallation & Structural Restoration

TAP Pest Control InsulationAfter removing contaminated and damaged insulation (and other damaged items), our crew professionally installs new and proper R-valued insulation in difficult to reach areas.
